Shaniswara Puja is performed in the temple on the first Saturday evening of every Malayalam month. The devotees pray to remove the effects of Shani by offering Sastha("The Supreme of Shani Devan") his favorite, Ellu Payasam. Udayastamana Puja is one of the favorite pujas of the deity and represents 21 pujas. Udayastamana Puja consists of Usha Puja in the morning followed by 18 Pujas, Ucha Puja and Dinner Puja in the evening. A special feature is that homam is required in the middle of each Puja's. Udayastamana pooja is important for pleasing the deity and accomplishing the 'Anugraham'.
